Abstract: The increased interest in multilayer technical fabrics requires a comprehensive study of the conditions for their formation on a weaving machine and, in particular, the study of such a basic technological operation as the breaking of the weft thread. The study of the process of forming a multilayer fabric begins with determining the technological loads acting on the working organs of the weaving machine: the surf force, the tension of the warp threads during the surf, the tension of the fabric. To measure these values on a weaving machine, an electric strain gauge unit was designed and special sensors were manufactured. A multilayer technical fabric was chosen as the object of the study. This fabric consists of five layers. The two layers form the root warp threads intertwined with the weft. The two layers form straight-line filler threads. The connection between the outer layers is carried out using the root warp threads of the woven outer layers, which are intertwined with the weft threads of the fifth additional layer. During the experiments, the influence of the filling tension of the base on the value of the surf force was determined. The results of the experiment are shown in the table. The data obtained were processed by methods of mathematical statistics. Based on the results of experimental studies, regression relationships were built.
