Sewing Machines for Leather and Other Heavy Products

Abstract

Chapter 14 presents a general description of sewing machines with a detailed focus on machines used for leather and other heavy products. Sewing machines play an important role for different types of materials such as leather. The quality of seams and the leather material are important factors in realizing high-quality products. The chapter presents an overview from a case study of shoe production in a footwear company operating in Tirana, Albania. Details of the steps followed from pattern making to the final shoe production are presented with figures showing these steps.
