| Abstract: | The article examines the ethnocultural dimension of translation within the paradigm of intercultural ommunication as a complex issue in contemporary translation studies. Translation is interpreted not merely as a linguistic transformation of a source text but as a process of interpreting and representing cultural meanings, values, and mental models embedded in the original message. The key parameters of the ethnocultural component in translation are identified, including culture-specific vocabulary, realia, cultural concepts, symbolism, and precedent phenomena. The paper analyses the impact of globalisation processes on intercultural interaction and outlines the role of the translator as a cultural mediator in the modern communicative space. Particular attention is paid to the importance of considering cultural context, pragmatic intentions of the sender, and expectations of the target audience when selecting translation strategies. The main approaches to rendering ethnocultural elements are discussed, ranging from adaptation and localisation to preserving cultural specificity through commentary or transcoding. The methodological framework of the study is based on linguo- cultural theory, discourse analysis, and intercultural communication studies, which enabled a comprehensive examination of translation solutions across different text types. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the systematisation of ethnocultural dominants of translation as factors ensuring communicative equivalence in the context of global cultural dialogue. It is argued that the effectiveness of intercultural communication largely depends on the adequate reproduction of ethnocultural components of the text, which guarantees the preservation of the original identity and the functional adequacy of the translation. The practical significance of the findings consists in their potential application in the training of future translators and philologists, as well as in the development of teaching and methodological materials for courses in translation theory and practice. |
