Abstract

The article explores the concept of internationalisms and the theoretical foundations for translating pseudo-internationalisms in scientific and technical discourse. It analyzes the linguistic nature, semantic characteristics, and functional roles of international vocabulary in the process of cross-linguistic communication. Particular attention is paid to the challenges of translating pseudo-internationalisms—words that resemble international terms in form but differ in meaning. The study identifies the main sources of translation errors caused by false equivalence and proposes strategies to ensure accuracy and terminological consistency. The article emphasizes the importance of contextual, semantic, and pragmatic analysis in rendering scientific and technical terminology, highlighting the translator’s role in maintaining conceptual precision and communicative adequacy.
